Looking for a used car can be a challenge. There are so many details and different aspects to consider while researching and test-driving used cars. That being said, there are certain automotive brands that individuals looking to purchase a used car should avoid altogether.
One name to avoid when looking for used cars for sale is Saturn. Two Saturn vehicles made Auto Guide’s list of the “Top Twenty Used Cars to Avoid,” according to consumer reports. The Saturn Relay was a minivan introduced in 2005 and was only available for two years, due to below average sales.
According to consumer reports on the vehicle, it was loud and extremely unreliable. Another Saturn that made the list was the Saturn Outlook. The Outlook was only on the market for three years and also lacked reliability.
Dodge is another name buyers should avoid when looking for used cars for sale. The Dodge Ram 2500 Diesel was reported to have issues with the drive system as well as the Fuel system. The Dodge Journey has also been known to be unreliable. The Journey had a multitude of problems including malfunctions in the driving system and electrical system.
Other common problems reported included issues with suspension, the brakes and body hardware. Unfortunately, it gets even worse. Along with other problems, the Dodge Caravan and Grand Caravan resembled the poor reliability of the previously mentioned models.
Chrysler is not among the list of most reliable names in reference to previously owned vehicles for sale. The Chrysler Town & Country minivan had a handful of reliability issues. The brakes, body hardware and paint lacked quality. The car was also known for having an unreliable climate system and suspension.
The Chrysler PT Cruiser may differ from other Chrysler vehicles in terms of looks. However, the PT Cruiser, like other Chryslers, is not praised for its performance or reliability. The Chrysler PT Cruiser has a long list of features that lacked quality and reliability. These include several engine problems, issues with the drive system and fuel system and many more.
BMW doesn’t stand out quite as much as other vehicle brand names to avoid as others on the list but this is no accomplishment. Both the BMW 7-Series and BMW X5 (six cylinder) made Auto Guide’s list of “Top Twenty Used Cars to Avoid.”
When looking for previously owned vehicles for sale, the aforementioned auto manufacturers should always be avoided.
