September brings a change of season and the popular festival Oktoberfest for Salt Lake City residents. However, what should have been an enjoyable family outing at Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort for one Utah family quickly turned violent. Though no fatalities occurred from the attack, a wrongful death lawyer can recover damages to those who are suffering from fatal attacks.
Consequences of Drinking
Brent Anderson, his wife Laura and her 23-year-old son, Thadius Grzeskiewicz, were visiting Snowbird on Sept. 21, 2014. While riding a tram at the popular ski resort, three men entered a tram who had been drinking heavily from the resort’s celebration of Oktoberfest.
The men gulped their remaining beer after Snowbird officials asked them to either finish their drinks or pour them out before boarding the tram. During the ride, the three men—ages 22, 24 and 32—assaulted Brent Anderson by punching him in the face. Additionally, Laura Anderson suffered a serious ankle injury and Grzeskiewicz experienced a head injury.
No member of the Salt Lake City family met fatal consequences from the assault resulting in a wrongful death case. However, the Andersons are now filing a lawsuit against Snowbird with the aid of a lawyer. Their lawsuit claims there was no intervention from Snowbird’s staff or security.
As for the three men who attacked the Andersons, the Salt Lake Tribune reports they were charged, “… with three counts each of third-degree felony assault, as well as misdemeanor counts of intoxication and disorderly conduct.”
